From: Jack Wittman To: The Bloomington Herald Times Subject: Wittman endorses Enright for Surveyor Date: Tue, 20 Apr 2004 10:57:45 -0500 Press Release ----------------- For Immediate Release ------------------------------ Wittman endorses Enright for Surveyor At a press conference held today (April 20, 2004), Jack Wittman announced his support for Kevin Enright for Monroe County Surveyor. Wittman had also filed as a Democratic candidate for this office back in February, but has since withdrawn from the race. “My name is still on the ballot for the May primary, but I want the public to know that I support Kevin Enright for the primary election and also in the November election.” Wittman is a professional hydrologist and currently serves as vice president on the Monroe County Drainage Board. Jack is the President of Wittman Hydro Planning Associates, Inc. (WHPA), a consulting firm that specializes in water resource analysis. “As a local business owner, I do consulting work for communities across the nation. Sound policies and decision making are critical to the health of communities. I have learned through this experience that there are key persons who understand these concepts and can find solutions to local dilemmas. It is obvious that Kevin is the person who can provide the leadership needed in our community.” Enright responded, “Monroe County has one of the finest Drainage Board in the state because we have excellent people such as Jack Wittman devoted to public service. I am pleased to have his support.” “I respect Enright’s dogged work ethic.” Wittman stated. “In his first term he was our first county surveyor to fulfill the section corner perpetuation laws requirements. He had taken an office that had been mismanaged for decades and in his four years accomplished more than had been done in the previous thirty two years. Given what is happening in the county at this time I think that we need another dose of that energy.” Enright said, “If elected, I will return the office to commitment to services. Restoring administrative support for the drainage board is another of these commitments. This is an important function that I provided in my previous tenure in the office, and one which the current surveyor has not offered. This reduction in services shifts all of the staff duties and chores onto county drainage engineer. We are not getting the most out of our county officials because they are not all pitching in. This costs taxpayers money in the near term and again down the road.” Contact: Jack Wittman (contact info removed by COUNT US! PAC) |
