Subject: opposing a new terrain I-69 From: CindyLeMaster(withheld) Date: Mon, 2 Feb 2004 07:45:52 EST To: robert.tally@fhwa.dot.gov Dear Robert, I am a conservative republican from northern Indiana with a degree in political science (DePauw 1982), and find myself being very worried and concerned about the proposed new terrain I-69 through southern Indiana. After careful study of your very large report I have come to the conclusion that this project will have a terrible impact on the farmlands, forests, communities, and local economys of the areas that it will rip through. I also see it as a complete waste of money. The economic development promised for that area will be temporary highway building jobs and work at strip malls and convenience stores. It will come at the expense of small businesses already in place in those areas, and will devastate the economy of the I-41, I-70 route where the citizens would actually like to see the road upgraded. The days of thinking that NAFTA might actually be a good thing for our citizens are over. The proposed new terrain I-69 should be scraped as useless and damaging to our state. I could go on and on but I have to go to my job like everyone else. Sincerely, Cindy LeMaster-Ray (withheld)
