When we met with Kenn Gividen in September of 2004, we though his campaign too late.  We were wrong!   The Kenn Gividen for Governor Campaign has spread the word state wide about the Boondoggle I-69 like wildfire.  We will be indebted to Kenn Gividen for his dedication to "No New Terrain I-69" long after this year's election.  We can think of no better way to express our gratitude than to encourage as many votes as possible be cast for Kenn Gividen for Indiana Governor.  He may not win, but they can COUNT US!

Kenn Gividen has annouced his kick-off event for his campaign and it is a Stop I-69 Car Tour.  We encourage everyone to come out with the same signs and messages opposing new terrain I-69 that would be seen as protests at a Daniels or Kernan event!  At Gividen events your "protests" will be seen as enthusiastic support!  COUNT US! PAC asks you to send as much support his way as you can!

Excerpts of a COUNT US! PAC letter supporting Kenn Gividen:

Kenn Gividen will appear on every Indiana ballot for Governor in November.  He is the only candidate opposed to new terrain I-69.*

...We are very aware of the massive boondoggle I-69 that would waste $3.28 billion Indiana gas tax dollars building a longer third NAFTA interstate system from Laredo TX to Port Huron MI.  150,000 Hoosiers have signed petitions opposing the New Terrain I-69 that would go from  Evansville to Indianapolis.  94% of the comments to the official study of I-69 opposed the new terrain route, but INDOT pushes on this "NAFTA free trade interstate".

Despite INDOT's claims that sound otherwise, this is no where near "a done deal" .  Federal law requires one environmental study, which INDOT has chosen to break into two tiers.  Only approval to continue the study has been approved by federal highway so far.

...The 80% federal money that would build I-69 is all collected at Indiana gas pumps and would come to Indiana with or without I-69 as INDOT budget.  Breaking I-69's cost in to State and Federal funding is only done to distort the truth.  We don't get other states money and they don't get ours under current federal transportation law.  All the money state and federal for I-69 could be used to "fix the roads we have" across Indiana!

*Gividen supports the US-41 and I-70 routing of  I-69 which would save Indiana tax payers $800 to $1.2 Billion dollars over the more expensive and environmentally damaging new terrain routes preferred by Kernan and Daniels.  Hoosiers deserve to hear debated this boondoggle, the most expensive and most damaging of proposals active in our state.

Libertarian gubernatorial hopeful visits Terre Haute

Kenn Gividen wants to reduce government size

By Peter Ciancone/Tribune-Star

"Kenn Gividen's approach to issues is low key, like his voice and manner.

The Columbus businessman, nominated by Libertarians in April to be their candidate for governor, visited Terre Haute on Tuesday, calmly and quietly laying out why he should be elected over his two major-party rivals.

What he tells people, he said, is "If we don't do well, the Republicans will."

What he means by saying that is that the difference between Democrats and Republicans is "virtually zero," both of them taxing and spending to make the world better, a phenomenon Gividen said has been proven by having Republicans in charge in Washington for the past 3 1/2 years.

"The conservative Republican Party is not there," he said. "What we thought the Republican Party would be doing, they're not doing."

As a Libertarian, Gividen said, the message is simple and direct"....

"The proposed new-terrain Interstate 69, simply put, is a waste of $1 billion, Gividen said, that will take money away from other state projects."
