I:69: Not a highway for the NEEDY,  A highway for the GREEDY

Indiana Governors O'Bannon,  Kernan and now Daniels have supported I-69, to help the "distressed population of S.W. Indiana", but they are wrong.  Terre Haute is in region 7, the lowest income region in the State.   Building I-69 on the INDOT/ BLA selected 3C route would serve Hoosiers with the highest average income in the state.

The INDIANA Department of Workforce Development is the official keeper of statistics regarding jobs and income.

Conclusions:

The I-69 route 3C from Evansville to Indianapolis through Bloomington, serves the 2nd richest region of the state imaginable.

***but wait, we are too generous:

3-C is home of the highest per capita income... #1!

When we include Indianapolis (region 8) in our table above, the
$29,630 average per capita income for I-69 on 3-C  serves by far Indiana's highest income population!   That is, I-69 / 3C supports the best paid Hoosier population possible.  (In 2001- this area also had the highest income per capita at $28,428.)

Governor Daniels has said this is not about saving 9 minutes in a 135 mile drive, he believes S.W. Indiana is "deprived" so he supports spending, borrowing and privatizing Indiana to spend INDOT transportation tax dollars to build I-69...................... for the highest income population possible for any proposable new interstate.   We think our governor is misinformed, listening to the wrong people!
INDOT as an economic development engine,  begs the question... Is there really any economic benefit to Interstate highways?  Particularly this one?

The FEIS for the Evansville to Indianapolis study for I-69 regarding Per Capita Income also concluded, quote:
When this population growth is taken into account, we find that the real disposable income per capita for the build alternatives does not differ significantly from the 2025 forecast for the no build alternative.
See our documentation at: Personal Income Growth, Build/ No Build Comparison

All Hoosiers pay equally for this "public works project" at Indiana gas pumps!
Fix the Roads we have... Department of TRANSPORTATION!
