-Q: What percentage of the funding for the construction of this segment of I-69 will come from the Federal government?
A: (Commissioner Nicol) The existing transportation authorization legislation (TEA-21) expires next September and is due for reauthorization in October, 2003. Until that time, INDOT does not know what Federal funds will be available for the construction of I-69. Indiana currently receives 90.5% of its Federal gas tax dollars and is seeking to raise that level to 95%. The INDOT long-range plan  identifies significant needs throughout the state, including I-69.

"The late Rep. Thomas P. "Tip" O'Neill, Speaker of the House during the Reagan years, accompanied a citizen group to the Federal Highway Administration offices. Now when you consider that Jim Newland, former head of of I-69 Mid-Continent Highway Coalition, hires as their consultant Randy DeLay for $380,000 and he is the brother of Congressman Tom DeLay who as Majority Whip gets the I-69 legislation enacted, and that Joyce Newland is now the FHA representative spearheading this project along with her husband Mark Newland... We think, no truth to the rumor that the Newlands and DeLays might be cousins.

Commuters learn to adapt to 'big mess' "It is just a big mess," ... "It's gotten really bad. Going from Interstate 69 to I-465 takes forever."  And Indiana wants to spend 3 billion dollars to share this intersection internationally.  Another study proposed.

This truck would have been facing into 70 mph north east bound traffic if route 3A or 3B  were built.
Missed by 3 miles with 3C,  this neighborhood continues to fight the boondoggle new terrain I-69 .
