Stop I-69 Interstate - COUNT US! County Under New Terrain I-69
We have been critical of Patoka mapping.

Please compare these two maps of the Patoka Wildlife Refuge.

Notice the purchased lands shown here not on the Indiana GS map below.
We ask; Why do these differ?

We have another related map at: http://www.i69tour.org/patokalands.html

In the FEIS for I-69,  BLA/ INDOT got it right:
You will find The Evansville to Indianapolis I-69 EIS map here:

i-69 map through the patoka wildlife refuge area
Black Boxes: Refuge and Management Acquisition Boundary (Outer boundary is added to make boxes apparent on this image. Red Boxes: acquired Refuge & management Areas - Boundary not signed. This map is a COUNT US! scan of a brochure available from the Patoka U.S. Fish and Wildlife Refuge office in Oakland City, IN.  COUNT US! added I-69 here.  Posted in more detail here.

We are particularly interested in the" figure 8" or "B on it's stomach" shaped property in the center of this map above as it significantly narrows the available privately held corridor for I-69 through this area.

This map is from the official Indiana Geological Survey GIS shapefile data provided to IGS by Bernardin, Lochmueller and Associates, the Evansville lead consultants conducting the environmental impact study for I-69, Evansville to Indianapolis.  http://igs.indiana.edu/arcims/statewide/metadata/Patoka_River_NWR_USFWS_IN.html
i-69 Indiana GIS shape file data differs from USFWS handout.
This should be the most up to date data. Why was the B shaped parcel to the west of the Patoka River (Houchins Ditch) crossing of I-69 omitted from this maps shapefile data? We are advised that this should be the most recent of the maps.
The data for this map was provided by BLA (I-69 consultants) in 2003.  Why does this map differ from the one they provided in the DEIS and FEIS for I-69?

Here is an August 2005, Section 2, Tier 2 map of this same region.  They do not include the Wild Life Refuge in detail, but it is a clear representation of the area with the I-69 plan clearly shown.  http://www.i69indyevn.org/Section_2/PDF/PubMtgAug09_Sheet03.pdf

Another GIS study of the Patoka Fish and Wildlife Service Refuge and Management area can be found on here:
http://www.gis.umn.edu/fws/ccp/ptr_summary.pdf
http://www.gis.umn.edu/fws/ccp/ptr_vegsum.pdf

The maps on it do not detail the private, public owned land issue.

This is perhaps important as NEPA regulations require use of another route if one exists that serves the purpose and need.  The EPA in their DEIS comments made it clear that INDOT should use the US41 and I-70 option.

We have exchanged a series of letters regarding the Patoka maps issue.
